My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When you think about your life how do you envision it? Who do you see in it? How do you want to spend it? When you feel like you are in limbo waiting for your life to begin you spend a lot of time thinking about what exactly you are searching for. Life in a shelter will do that to you. Sure you get a roof over your head, food to fill your tummy, medical care if needed, regular exercise, playtime, cuddles…ok so maybe it doesn’t sound all that bad but honestly it’s missing 1 key thing in life. A family to call your own. Family is big in my book. I want to make a special connection with someone.

Here’s where my story begins. My name is Theo. The shelter thinks I’m about 5 years old. Don’t get me wrong I’m not ready to slow down anytime soon. Active pup by day, couch potato by night! I was found roaming the streets of Manchester alone. Honestly it was a sad time in my life & I hope to never be back there again. I don’t remember a lot about my past, nor do I want to dwell on it. I’m ready to move on & see what my future holds. This is where you come in…

In my spare time I enjoy long walks wherever the road takes me as long as you’re by my side. Belly rubs are a huge score on my part. I’m an avid ball player, squeaky toys rock but yes I destroy them, rope toys are the coolest & Nylabones are my prized possession. New things & places excite me however I need to learn how to redirect my attention. All I ask is that you work with me & help me overcome this hurdle. Because I have the mentality that everything is MINE living in a home without other furry friends or young kids would be best. For the record I do get along with other pups but I don’t want to share my parents so yes I must be your one & only.

Although furthering my education is very important to me, I have already studied courses in sit, paw & down. I have done very well with my leash skills & housebreaking was also successful. I’m seeking a companion who is savvy with my kind & will be dedicated to establishing a solid routine with me. I’m a smart pup but I’m not perfect. I need a little direction, a little encouragement, some consistency & some patience. I’m very food motivated so you can use that to achieve my full & absolute attention. Oh yes & I’m very polite about taking treats. Every now & again I get lost in the moment & revert to my puppy ways. I can understand how this can be a turn off however with some positive training this could easily be a thing of the past. Think about it, how’s a pup to know what’s right & wrong when he’s never been taught the difference.

Smiles come plentiful, cuddles abundant, prime lap real-estate is a must & my heart is displayed proudly on my paw. Invest some time in getting to know me. I don’t want to jump right into forever. I would love some quality time to see if we are a good match. I want there to be a connection. I want to feel the butterflies in my stomach knowing you are the one. I want to be loved furever. My hopes & dreams are a home with a yard, a family all to myself & a loving heart to fill my days. If you are interested in getting to know me please come down to the shelter. I’m here, I’m willing & I’m waiting for you.

Note: As with all of our dogs, we strongly recommend obedience classes for new owner and dog to create a life-long bond with the adopted dog based on trust, respect and rewarding training experiences. Our shelter dogs are strays and we observe and assess their behavior at the shelter which may be somewhat different in a home environment. In addition, dogs adopted from the Manchester Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped and have received their Rabies and distemper vaccinations as well as other necessary medical care such as flea treatment. All dogs are also heartworm tested. Some prudent care such as heartworm medication is not provided at the shelter and should be taken care of at the earliest convenience upon adoption.
