My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET RAWLINGS!! This handsome 6 year old boy has officially made it to LFS and is doing well. It’s a wonder to us that no one came to claim him from the shelter, but now he has a second chance to find his forever home. Rawlings is a big, affectionate dog. He is definitely strong and could learn some more leash manners, but for the most part he is a gentle boy. Rawlings was given a clean bill of health by our vet (besides a mild ear infection that is being treated). He seems to get along with other dogs and we will try to test him with cats sometime this week. Stay tuned for updates on beautiful Rawlings!

UPDATE 02/23: A few days ago, a couple of our nice volunteers took Rawlings for a walk around their neighborhood so he could get out of boarding for a little while. Here are a few of the things they said about him:

He greeted us immediately and just wanted love and attention. Rawlings is a wonderful and beautiful dog! He has an awesome, typical lab personality, energetic and happy, interested in everything around him, and he’s very loving and gentle with you. On the walk, he met several neighbors and showed his love for people. Rawlings is a strong dog, and understandably after being in boarding for a few weeks now, he’s got some built up energy. A little refresher course on leash training and he’ll be great. Rawlings is treat motivated and knows some commands, like stop and sit. A neighbor came up the street driving a motorcycle and Rawlings remained seated; he just looked at the motorcycle calmly. He didn’t bark or act scared in response to the noise. Rawlings would do best in a home with a more active family that could give him ample exercise.
Unfortunately Rawlings has been in boarding for the last few weeks as we haven’t been able to find a foster for him. He’s a loving guy just looking for a second chance, and we hate knowing he has to stay there. If you would be interested in opening your heart and home to Rawlings while he waits to find his forever home, please check out our fostering section and fill out an application to foster at http://www.labradorfriends.com/foster-2/.
