My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside & out) Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix in a high-kill shelter in New Mexico. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Memphis's life and nursed his body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Memphis is ready to be transported to his new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for Memphis's NM foster mom to say goodbye...she knows that he will have a great life. The following is a description of Memphis by his rescuer:

--Memphis is such a sweet guy just waiting to blossom. I've enjoyed watching him learn that the world can be a loving and positive place. Memphis had a hard start - but now he's learning about treats, belly rubs and that he's a very valuable pup! Memphis may very well be initially shy or frightened, but just give him a bit of time and you'll have a new best friend.

Memphis loves to run and play outside...he has the appropriate (and perfect) amount of energy for a 4 or so year old, 13 - 15 lb healthy pup. Memphis would do well with retirees who have the time and energy to share their lives with a fuzzy best friend. A family who doesn't work full-time outside of the home would be great as well. Older kids would be so much fun for this sweet guy...he'd love being a part of their lives. After Memphis has had exercise and mental stimulation, he's ready to chill on the couch. He loves to snuggle, be petted and has been said to not get overly grumpy about pretty much anything.

Memphis appears to be fine with other dogs but appreciates those that are respectful of his smaller size. He also has been great with my 14 and 15 year old daughters and me. I haven't seen him around smaller kids, so that's an unknown. He's excellent with my mom and is very happy to warm her lap and lie on her feet while he takes a snooze.

Memphis is a non-shedding guy (with the most gorgeous, cottony-soft coat every). He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his hair silky and matt-free.

Memphis won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Memphis's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used.

Memphis will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 3/4/17. If interested in this very sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
