Meet Annie Oakley...Oakley for short! She is a 3 year, 55 lb old black Labrador Retriever found by our Vet and his family wondering about in Avinger, Tx. She was scared, thin and not in great health. With no chip and no tags and in terrible shape they took her in and started looking into the health concerns. After through examination and x-rays it was determined she had a foreign object in her abdominal cavity and they proceeded with surgery for removal. After a successful surgery, full vetting and two months of TLC, she is being placed up for adoption through the rescue. She has been spayed, microchipped, is HW negative, received her rabies, bordatella, parvo/distemper, treated for internal parasites and is on monthly prevention for HW and flea/ticks. She is a sweet young girl with lots of love to give. She is house and crate trained. She loves other dogs and children and is great with cats. She loves to play and loves the water. She does have a little separation anxiety but with the right home and some confidence busting we feel like she will settle down and feel safe. If you would like to make Oakley part of your family please follow the instructions below to complete an application for adoption.

About Fur-Giving Hearts Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a nonprofit 501C3 organization dedicated to helping neglected and distressed cats and dogs and getting them the help they need. Saving animals and finding them the help they need and placing them in a loving home is so rewarding to us. We are not selective in which animals we rescue. They all deserve a chance no matter their color, breed or condition. We know that we cant save them all, but our thinking is "Why not try?"

We do not have regularly planned adoption events. Like us on Facebook to see posts for events planned.

Our Adoption Process...

There is an adoption application we require to be filled out and approved first. We check a vaccination history and heartworm prevention history by calling the veterinarian listed on the application.

There is a home visit prior to adoption. Some times this isn't possible because of the distance and in that case we make other arrangements.

We also require a meet and greet. If out of state the adopter would pay for a health certificate to travel across state lines. Usually this is around $20.00 in addition to the adoption fee. The adoption fee ranges based on the animal.
