My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willa is a dog that makes us humans stop and think that we have important lessons to learn from rescue dogs. Although Willa has been through so many difficult experiences in her life, she has risen up and has a sweet and kind attitude. It appears that she's used her life lessons to become wiser..and that wisdom shows in her eyes and in her demeanor.

At about 4 or so years old and only 9 lbs, Willa has developed the self-confidence (while being shy at first) and flexibility to fit right in. She is currently being fostered in Boulder...when Willa was dropped off at her foster home, she walked right in, met her new family (as well as their 60 lb Pointer) and made herself at home. While quiet and observant at first, within minutes her little tail was wagging while she said her hellos to her new foster family.

Willa, a Schnauzer/Terrier mix, is such a silly and endearing being once she feels safe in her surroundings. Her huge ears give her a bit of a comical look while she smiles at you..so filled with love and sweetness. She's the first to give soft kisses and let you know how appreciative she is for every belly rub and kind word.

Willa is friendly and filled with a silly, playful nature that she endears herself to everyone she meets. She would love nothing more, with her social and engaging manner, than to be a constant companion and very best friend. She's so portable (at 9 lbs) that she's perfect to bring anywhere that a small, endearing pup is welcome. She's a natural to mingle with dog-loving friends and their gentle dogs. She loves kind humans..although young kids can be a bit overwhelming to Willa with their fast movements and louder voices. It seems that everyone is drawn to Willa's kindness and she returns the devotion a thousand times over.

Willa enjoys running errands with her foster mom and dad (it did take a bit for her to be comfortable and secure..but is learning all the time about feeling safe). Willa rides shotgun and has become a regular at the downtown pet supply store - while it requires confidence, she's pretty sure at least a few treats will come her way.

Willa does very well in most environments (especially if she's held close by a family member) and is very flexible and low-maintenance. Willa is completely house trained and is a non-vocal girl..therefore so pleasant to take along just about anywhere.. Willa is independent enough to never overwhelm others with neediness...although a place on her favorite person's lap will literally make her smile.

We are searching for a family who really wants the company, and accompanying responsibility, of a wonderful and sweet best friend. Willa would not be happy with long hours alone at home...she is too sensitive for that.

Willa is an endearing girl that will be overjoyed with strolls along beautiful Colorado paths and then flopping down on the couch for some serious snuggling. Retirees searching for a very loving lap dog would be perfect for Willa. She would also be great for a younger family that wants a very calm and fun full-time companion.

Hanging out with Willa can mean backyard time in the sunshine, a trip to a friend's house or some time at a park enjoying long walks and general dog-fun. In return for this companionship, Willa will be a devoted and loyal best friend.

Willa appears to be a non-shedding girl who will require a commitment to bathing/brushing and great nutrition to keep her adorable scruffy coat healthy and matt-free.

Willa is currently in foster care in Boulder. Meet and greets are currently being set up for our sweet girl. If interested in this cuddly and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
