We believe that when she came to us Brandy lived most of her life outdoors. In recent weeks she had a shot at a "normal" life and she loves it. This beautiful young girl who loves to work and play slowly let her guard down and transformed from a shy dog into a playful companion, who also likes to stay quiet at times. Her stance may look intimidating at first, but in reality she just wants to fit in and doesn't always know how. She is learning this now, but will need help from her pack leader, so dog owning experience is very desirable. She loves to play with toys, people and other dogs, she also likes chasing wildlife. When she plays outside she looks like a hunting lioness, but she is really a silly girl playing her favorite games. She will do almost anything for treats, so teaching her new tricks is simple. As a matter of fact nearly everything she does is working you to get a treat or engage in a game. She can be very affectionate, but also a little timid, so she prefers rubs to hugs. She is a great guard dog, seems to know this job very well. She likes walks and is good on the leash. She is completely house broken. She would enjoy a canine companion, but they must match her still a little puppyish energy and strength. This girl is a diamond in the rough, needs a little work, but once polished the reward will be a devoted, faithful companion for everyone in the pack.
I am an underdog, so my adoption fee has been reduced. I wanted a break from the shelter so I went to live in a foster home with another dog (Bodie) and an elderly dog! please contact kteasley@atlantahumane.org if you'd like to meet me.

About Atlanta Humane Society - Alpharetta

About Our Shelter...

Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit (IRS Tax ID# 58-0685900) and the oldest private charitable organization in Atlanta, founded in 1873 following a visit to the city by Robert E. Lee. The animal charity was originally chartered to protect women, children, and animals and remained a child protection and animal welfare society for 79 years. AHS, now a widely recognized pet adoption center, clinic, and educational program provider, was originally located on Marietta Street and moved to its location at 981 Howell Mill Road in the 1930s. Atlanta Humane Society's Mansell Road Adoption Facility was opened in December of 2011 in Alpharetta.

It is our mission to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty and exploitation of animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively and humanely protected by an aware and caring society.

Atlanta Humane Society places approximately 8,000 animals into forever homes each year. AHS is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. We do not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for the animals once they are in our care. We only humanely euthanize those animals suffering from significant medical issues or that pose behavior concerns. We are proud to be a part of the solution to ending pet homelessness and overpopulation in the Southeast United States.
