Update 09/12/08: Hello again. Thought I would add a new pic of myself so everyone can see how I am doing. I got my stitches out a couple of days ago and am feeling much better. The vet told my foster mom that I could start my swimming exercises...sure sounded like fun when they were talking about it. FM put me in the bathtub yesterday for my first go at "hydrotherapy" and all I would do is paddle my front legs and drag my back legs through the water. I'll show her...stick me in a tub full of water and expect me to cooperate - hah! Anyway, she also bought me this cool bandana I've been sporting around in for the last two days. I am the best dressed, 4.5# pup in the house! OK - so I'm the only 4.5# pup in the house and everybody else got out of their bandana before FM could snap these photos. I gotta learn how they do that so fast.

My FM also said I get to go to her "groomers" place tomorrow. I don't know what that is either, but I am getting a little suspicious of these places they keep taking me. Remember last time they took me somewhere I came home with a shaved hip and stitches. This better be more enjoyable than my surgery or I am going to find one of those hiding places that Fergie always winds up in when she doesn't want anyone to find her. I'll be sure to send some more pics after this groomer thing.

Talk to you soon!

Update 09/05/08: Hello, Toby here. Well, it's been about a week since I had my surgery on my hip and things are going pretty well. I also got neutered during the same surgery. (My foster parents were excited about that, but I sure don't think it is all that great) Oh well, the other dogs tell me I won't even notice after a while. My foster parents are having a difficult time getting me to do my exercises. It's not my favorite time of the day. Mom grabs my leg and moves it like I am riding a bicycle. Can you imagine...me, riding a bicycle? Duh, no wonder I don't like the exercise. Foster mom says I will get to try my hand at swimming after the vet takes my stitches out. They sure make it sound fun. Hopefully, it's better than the bicycle exercise.

I really like to run around their back yard, so maybe I should try to work harder at getting my leg back in shape. The vet thinks I should be up and using my leg in a few weeks. I do still have to go back in to the vet to get my teeth cleaned. They felt that my surgery was enough for one visit and wanted to wait to clean my teeth at another time. My foster folks gave me some chewies and they are helping my teeth a lot, but I still need a professional job done to them.

Hopefully, in a few weeks, I will be ready to start looking for my new forever home. I know there is a great home out there waiting for me. My foster folks feel I should find a home without little kids because I am so little. I like to get under their feet a lot and they worry that someone might step on me. I really like to cuddle with them at night - they like to watch TV from their bed - and that's fine with me 'cuz their bed is so comfortable. If you would like to have a little guy with a big heart, please fill out the application forms for me. I can't wait to find a new home with lots of room for me to play.

Talk to you soon,

Toby

UPDATE: 07-31-08: TOBY HAD XRAYS TODAY TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF HIS LEG PAIN. HIS RESULTS INDICATE A PREVIOUS INJURY POSSIBLY A KICK TO THE HIP THAT RESULTED IN A FRACTURED HIP.

Update 08/12/08: Hello every one, I am so excited to say that my FM took me shopping today for my first harness and leash so that I could go for my first walk ever (I wasn't sure how I was going to like this but after I got over being mad I had a great time. The world is bigger than I would have ever expected). My FM asked the vet about my walking and they said that it would be good to start training me now cuz when I have my surgery I will have to do therapy to get better. FM also got me some chewies she said that these will be good for my teeth,I just like to chew on them. I am still very shy and timed around people. I do like playing with my big brothers and sisters, although they play just a little ruff for me (they are all twice my size). My favorite sis is Fergie we were hanging around a lot until this weekend, FM said she has to go to the Dr. and then we will be able to play again. I am going to the DR my self tomorrow to get weighted FM said that they need to start tracking my weight so that I can have my surgery so that I get better. Well I better get to bed so that I am rested up for my big day with the other kids.

Original Bio 07/30/08: Hi, my name is Toby. I was dropped off at my foster's house when they weren't even home. I'll bet I was a surprise to them when they came home from work that day. I am approximately 1 year old and weigh about 4 lbs. My foster parents are putting me on a diet to try and gain a couple of pounds back. I have to go to the vet to get my shots and x-rays of my leg. I favor my right, rear leg when I walk. My fosters say it doesn't appear to hurt me when they inspect it and I don't always limp on it, but they want to have an x-ray anyway. I am going to need a fair amount of vet help, so any donations I could get would be very appreciated. Keep me in your thought as I try to get through all the problems I was left with. I will give you an update in about a week to let you know how everything is going.
