Facts about Ferdinand

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Black & White Or Tuxedo
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Ferdinand is a big sweet 5-year-old love-hunk. He has a huge head with sweet green eyes and a cow-cat style black-and-white coat. He is shy at first but responds gratefully to a slow approach and gentle head scritches. Ferdinand is a mellow creature who would love to snuggle up with you. He should do well with other cats after a proper introduction. He would probably be fine with a respectful dog and with older children who can respect his initial shyness. He uses his litter box every time and is well behaved around the house. He has a stubby tail—about 4 inches long—which looks like there was some trauma long ago. It’s left him with a funny bob-tail and some sensitivity about being touched around his tail. But chin rubs? Can’t get enough of them!

About Broken Tail Rescue, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Mission Statement:

Broken Tail Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit foster-based rescue organization dedicated to the rescue of unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats in urgent need. We work closely with local animal controls, animal shelters and rescue groups to ensure the placement of these forgotten animals. We will not discriminate on basis of health, age, or breed and will only consider humane euthanasia in cases of aggression or for quality-of-life due to untreatable medical conditions.

Our animals are vet examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered as needed and receive any and all medical treatment necessary prior to being placed into carefully screened permanent homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our pets for adoption are in foster homes. You must fill out an adoption application before being considered for adoption. Once your application is received, the foster parent will contact you to discuss whether the animal would be a good fit for your home and set up a meet between your family and the pet.

We also house several cats in our adoption center at the Framingham,Cambridge, and Everett PetSmart stores. Stop by to play with them anytime the store is open!

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process includes an adoption application; a meet-and-greet between the prospective adopters, the dog, and the foster family; vet and personal reference checks; and a home visit.

Adopters must be at least 21 years of age.

DOGS:

Our adoption donation is generally between $300 - $400 for most adult dogs and is decided on a case-by-case basis. Adoption donations help defray the cost of transportation, care, and medical treatment.

Our adoption donation for cats and kittens varies by age.

Kitten under 6 months: $200
Cats 6 months – 4 yrs: $125
Cats 5 yrs – 9 yrs: $100
