My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SALLY: 6 Year Old Yellow Lab Purebred Spayed Female 95 Pounds (needs to lose 10 lbs)

Sally is a beautiful girl who has been very well cared for and loved by one family since she was a puppy. They purchased two Lab siblings hoping that they would become buddies to their special needs son. Instead, the two dogs bonded to each other and not to the son. They kept the dogs as family dogs but recently Sally's brother developed what seems to be a neurological condition and thus is demonstrating behaviors that cause Sally not to bond with him anymore. The family decided that Lab Rescue could find a more suitable home for Sally.
From Sally's Foster Mom:
Sally is being fostered with the Foster family's Lab and does fine with her. Sally is a pretty independent dog, however, each day she shows she is happiest when she is around her foster mom and dad. She has very good manners, does not counter surf, jump on anyone and is good in her crate. She sleeps through the night. She has acclimated to our home in a short period of time. Sally is housebroken, treat motivated and enjoys going on walks. We sometimes go to the dog park where she likes to meet and greet the dogs as they come into the park but then goes on her way doing her thing. Her leash manners continue to improve with a correction collar. When I walk with her on a short leash by my side she is very good and stays by my side. She knows the commands down and sit and when she sits she watches me intently waiting for me to tell her what I want her to do. She loves to be pet and when I stop she puts her paw on my knee for more! She rides very nicely in the car. She is one of the best dogs we have ever fostered.
From Sally's Rescue Rep:
Sally is a sweetheart of a dog to have around. She likes to give gentle kisses. With a little less food at mealtimes and daily exercise she will slim up around the waist in no time! Obedience classes would be good as refresher to reinforce previous training. She is highly motivated by treats which is a plus for training. She is not interested in retrieving the ball but we are told she likes to swim in a lake but not a pool. Sally has spent a lot of time as an outdoor dog or in the garage so Lab Rescue wants someone who is around a good part of the day so that Sally can bond with her new family and feel like part of the pack. Although she is gentle because of her size she could inadvertently knock over a toddler so any kids in the home should be 5 or older.

Health: Sally is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped.
Sally is located in San Jose.

If you are looking for a great girl and around a good part of the day to let Sally bond and be part of your pack, please call Rescue Rep Sandy at 650-303-2436. Please leave good days/time to call back.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
