Sammy is approximately 1.5 years old. When she was rescued she had had a minor spat with her brother. They both only received some minor scratches. The owners were very upset and wanted her gone immediately. She was spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm tested (negative) on February 24. She had never been around cats but lived with 3 very small children. She now stays in a home with 5 dogs of various sizes and 6 cats. She has started playing with one of the cats and for the most part ignores the other cats. She plays with the bigger dogs and ignores the little ones. She is a bit possessive. She was kept in a kennel most of the time so she hated the kennel. She is going through training to help her accept her kennel. She is doing great with the training. She loves her kennel and is possessive of it. She growls at the other dogs if they get too close to her kennel. She is a little possessive of her foster mom so will growl a little if the other dogs come close to the foster mom when she is by foster mom. Foster mom is doing positive training to correct this issue and is helping her to learn to find her place in the pack. She is a loving sweet baby and loves positive attention. She is very eager to please.

About Needy Paws Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Needy Paws Rescue, located in St. Louis, MO, is devoted to saving animals in need, whose lives are in danger at high kill animal shelters & animal controls, those who are strays, have been abandoned or whose family has faced an extreme emergency, regardless of their size or breed.

Our organization is made up of Volunteers who have been involved in various animal rescues in the St. Louis area and we plan to use our knowledge & experience to make a difference. We believe spaying & neutering is a very important step in keeping pets healthy & happy, plus it helps decrease overpopulation. All of our rescued animals will be spayed or neutered, they will be microchipped to ensure they are identifiable if lost or stolen and they will be current on all of their vaccinations before going to their Forever Homes.

We are foster-based and all pets stay in approved Foster Homes that have passed inspections, reference checks and are qualified to take care of our rescued animals while they wait for their Forever Family. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will be making home visits and conducting veterinarian checks & reference checks to ensure the pets will have a safe, loving, happy home. Forever Families will be taught how to care for their pet and learn how to get the most out of their relationship with their new family member. We also have an after-care specialist who will be in contact with the families after the adoption to see how well they're doing together
