Facts about Pete

  • Breed: Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 11137926
Pete was relinquished to a super high kill shelter in Texas for chasing chickens.  He is heading to a foster to adopt in Fort Collins but we are taking backup applications if you are interested.

Pete loves people, and is very attached to his caretakers. He is not as fond of sharing his affection with other dogs, and so we are looking for a home where Pete is the only dog (because we just don't know enough to say he could successfully live with another dog, and if Pete comes up, and his potential home falls through, he has no where to go).

All our dogs are in foster homes.
You have to go through the adoption process and be approved before meeting a dog.

Its an application, two phone interviews and a home visit.

Our Adoption Process...

First you must fill out an application which we will review. Then we will do a phone interview, reference check and finally a home visit before a dog is placed in your home. We ONLY adopt to homes where the dog is an indoor dog, part of the family and treated as such. We stress excellent nutrition, proper training and follow up with all our adopters.

We are probably have one of the more thorough and difficult adoption processes... and we love that people want to adopt and don't want to discourage adopters! So please, if you're in a hurry, or not an exceptional furever home - please try other rescues or a SHELTER is a great option too!
