My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Foster Write Up:
Hope has fully recovered from a rough start as a stray wandering rural Dorchester County. She loves all people and children, cats and dogs, although she can get possessive about her special treats! She is high energy and loves to run and fetch her blue ball. Being only 2 years old, she can still play a bit rough and may not be the best fit for families with small children or small dogs. Oddly enough, she loves her foster family's foster kittens and seems to know not to play with them!

Hope was discovered extremely thin, bald from sarcoptic mange and with both eyes damaged from entropion. One eye was repaired and one eye had lost vision from extensive damage, so was removed. Her hair has mostly grown in but may remain thin on her chest. Otherwise, she is energetic, curious, talkative and healthy.

She knows "sit," "settle," (lays down) and "speak" (very well!). We're working on "stay". She loves to play fetch and tug of war and seems to enjoy time in her crate for she is always willing to go in! She has learned to wait in the "settle" position until given the "ok" to eat from her maze bowl, which significantly slows her tendency to gulp! Hope walks fairly well on a leash but is still learning to control her enthusiasm and thus can be a trip hazard at times! She would be a great running companion!

She is a sweet dog that does best under a tight reign. She will be a loyal companion and lots of fun for the right family!

Hope is estimated to be under 2 years old. She is currently being treated for Demodex and her skin will be all healed up and her hair will grow back in no time.

UPDATE: Hope is doing great after having her "eyelid" lift on her right eye, and her left eye removed due to cornea damage. She has been declared Demodex-free and she is just working on healing, gaining some weight and growing her fur back. We also are working on some basic discipline and she now "settles" into laying position and "stays" until given the go-ahead to eat. If you ever see her eat, you'd understand why this is a BIG step! She LOVES to play and sideswiped the deck while running so hard that she cracked her cone of shame! Hope, a 2 year old pit mix, will be a great companion for any dog or older child that needs a playmate. She loves children of all ages but needs more work to control all her energy. She needs a foster or forever home!

Adoption fee of $250.00 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip heartworm test and treatment if needed and any other medical that may be required while in rescue.

We only do adoptions on Saturday and not all animals are able to attend so if you would like to see a specific animal please let us know so that we can make arrangements for it to be present at the event. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage to find out where we will be this week. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us to cover medical expenses for all of animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap so thank you for your understanding and helping us save as many as possible.
