My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This beautiful boy looks like he may be a standard parti poodle , but we have also had people say that he may be a labradoodle, so we have ordered a DNA test to see exactly what he is. He is definitely a mix as he has a short tail, like it has been docked that way or he has lost it. He is a sweet dog, and very regal looking. He was very matted when we rescued him from the shelter and when he was shaved down, he lost 7 lbs of matting!!! He is approx 3 years old and 63 lbs. He gets along with the other dogs and is very playful and loves to play with the little dogs. He does want to be where you are. If he knows you are in the next room, he will seek you out. We find that with time, this usually gets better as the dogs feel safe and secure. He seems to be very well house and leash trained.

The total adoption donation of $650 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. The application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather than from a local foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.
