What a great girl!!! Harlow came to us from a shelter who took her in very pregnant as a stray, where she had puppies the very next day. How sad and disgusting people don't spay and neuter, and when they do get pregnant, they discard them to fend for themselves, especially in December when we were having that bitter cold snap! Thank goodness she at least was able to have her puppies in a warm safe place. I must admit I was a bit leery of her at first, sitting on the floor, face to face handling her puppies. She's a big girl, and wasn't yet comfortable with me near her puppies. It turned out though, she is SUPER sweet !!! Harlow also gets along great with other dogs and even shies away from the old grumpy ones who growl at her. She walks good on a leash with no pulling, only barks when appropriate, (like when someone is knocking on door), and with a little further training will be an AWESOME dog!! She is approx. 75 lbs. ,but probably should be about 80 and is 1-2 yrs old. We are just guessing on the breeds, and yes, probably does have a bit of pitbull , but very closely resembles the mix of mastiff and lab , either way, she's gorgeous!! If you would like to meet Harlow, please email Karen at or call 630 851-9354. Her adoption fee is 325.

About Eye on the Sparrow

About Our Rescue Group...

All of our pets are in foster homes, from Sheridan to North Aurora, IL. We take in many special needs dogs, some physically, mentally or behaviorally challenged. Some of them have been abused or neglected, many are seniors, most just need some understanding and patience. A lot of them have never heard a vacuum before or even felt a kind pat on their heads. Fostering them prepares them for the life they so richly deserve when a kind person adopts from us. When you adopt a shelter dog, you are making a giant step in reducing euthanasia for all these great dogs looking for a home. It is not their fault, it is the fault of the human that previously was involved in their life. Thanks for checking out our website, maybe you will find the pal of your dreams.

Our Adoption Process...

We have an online application on our website, Requirements vary as per the individual dog's needs as far as time alone, children, other pets, fenced yard vs. leash walking and such. Our adoption donations can range from $99 for less adoptable/older dogs, and higher for puppies and other highly sought after dogs(which helps us take in needy often medically challenged dogs and cats.)
Our contract states we have the right to visit the dog, check up periodically as well as take the dog back if necessary. We get first right to the dog if adopter chooses not to keep him. We want all adopters to realize this is a serious commitment and want our dogs to go to safe, loving homes.
