Sophie's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, not good with kids, and not good with dogs.

Sophie's Story...
Sophie came to us from a local shelter in need of dental work, surgery for mammary tumors and a hernia. Over the last 6 weeks all procedures have been completed, and Sophie has now fully recovered. Sophie is very shy, and frightens easily with a lot of activity and noise, but she does beautifully in a one on one environment according to her foster mom.
Sophie is an adorable 8 year old pure breed Maltese girl who weighs a mere 6 lbs. and is as sweet as she can be. She is house trained, walks very well on a leash, easy to bathe, and is happy just to be by your side. If you enjoy a quiet lifestyle, you couldn’t ask for a better companion. She is affectionate, and respectful, and has a soft bark, which she uses with sparingly. Sophie is a little timid around other dogs and children, so we would require an adult only home, ideally with a retired person who wants a full time companion. Due to her size, she is very delicate and needs a gentle touch. Like most dogs, she loves attention and human contact, but isn’t needy or clingy …just being near you is enough for her. Sophie is a happy healthy girl ready for a loving forever home. Sophie qualifies for our Senior to Senior program.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sophie, a San Diego Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in San Diego, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in San Diego.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Diego already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Diego breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Diego paves the way for another one to be saved.
