UPDATE 3/6/17:

Petey has come light years since he was pulled from the shelter and we would love to see him go to a forever home where he can get all the attention!  Petey is walking around great now (he has never even used his wheelchair at all) and takes his daily meds which help him tremendously.  He loves life and says he is not going any where anytime soon!  Please consider adopting this super sweet guy so he can retire in the lap of luxury!

Hi!  I am Petey!  I am an 8 yr old Chinese Crested Powder Puff with rheumatoid arthritis.  I was picked up as a stray by our local animal control, I was microchipped but my owners did not want to come and take me back home.  My foster mom has Chinese Cresteds and when she saw me at the shelter she just had to rescue me.  While at the shelter I couldn't walk and they were not sure if I was injured or had arthritis.  My foster mom took me to vet, they did x-rays and found out I have rheumatoid arthritis in all my bones and joints.  It is very painful just like in people but I don't let it get me down at all!!  The vet was so surprised what a trooper I was because I do not even act like it hurts, that is because I love life and I am not going to let anything get me down!  I am now on medications for pain control, and meds to help keep my RA at bay and am doing great.  I even walk around and try to follow my foster dad everywhere.  My foster mom decided it would help me out a ton in I had a wheelchair since I just want to go go go, so she says I will be running around like hell on wheels very soon.

If you would like to sponsor me or donate to my continued care that would be awesome and we would be forever grateful!

Our Adoption Process...

Adopting any dog is a long term commitment. We want our applicants to be prepared for that commitment and dedicated to a high level of care for their new companion pet. To ensure this, ARRF has a 5 step adoption process:

Step 1 : Complete an application at http://www.arrfnc.com/info/adoption

Step 2 : ARRF will contact you and confirm we have received your application (please email us at arrf@arrfnc.com if you have not gotten a response within 72 hours)

Step 3 : ARRF will review your application and confirm the information provided. This can take a week or longer depending on how quickly we receive responses.

Step 4 : ARRF will contact you to schedule a home visit. Home visits allow us to get to know you, prepare you for your new pet and answer any questions you may have.

Step 5 : ARRF will complete a review of all findings and contact you with a final decision. Upon approval, ARRF will arrange for your new family member to come home.

We are dedicated to saving as many lives as we can and understand that the faster this process is completed, the faster we can take in another dog. Please be sure to provide us complete, detailed information and all contact information to minimize delays.
