Introducing our sweet shepherd, Shelly! Shelly has the mind and energy of a puppy in a grown up (rather large - could stand to lose a few of her 100 pounds) body. Shelly will never turn down an opportunity to go for a walk and enjoy some playtime. Cold weather or rain never stops this girl. She enjoys any season. Shelly shows potential for improving her leash manners as she responds quickly to correction!! Her repertoire of basic commands includies shake and sit!! Shelly loves to involve her handler in her playtime and sometimes she forgets that she is a big strong girl! So beware and plant your feet when Shelly is wanting to share her love with you, otherwise you may be looking up at the sky and she will be smothering you with kisses. Exercise and an active owner will be ideal for Shelly so that she can get her best beach bod ready for bikini season! Our sweet Shelly has so much potential to be the very best dog that she can be and may do well in obedience classes to refresh her memory on how to control her strength and energy! She just gushes with love for her best humans. Shelly was surrendered due to landlord issues and so Shelly is looking for a new furever home. If you have time to romp and play with this pretty energetic girl, put on your running shoes and head to the shelter to sweep sweet Shelly off her feet!

About Atlanta Humane Society - Alpharetta

About Our Shelter...

Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit (IRS Tax ID# 58-0685900) and the oldest private charitable organization in Atlanta, founded in 1873 following a visit to the city by Robert E. Lee. The animal charity was originally chartered to protect women, children, and animals and remained a child protection and animal welfare society for 79 years. AHS, now a widely recognized pet adoption center, clinic, and educational program provider, was originally located on Marietta Street and moved to its location at 981 Howell Mill Road in the 1930s. Atlanta Humane Society's Mansell Road Adoption Facility was opened in December of 2011 in Alpharetta.

It is our mission to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty and exploitation of animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively and humanely protected by an aware and caring society.

Atlanta Humane Society places approximately 8,000 animals into forever homes each year. AHS is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. We do not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for the animals once they are in our care. We only humanely euthanize those animals suffering from significant medical issues or that pose behavior concerns. We are proud to be a part of the solution to ending pet homelessness and overpopulation in the Southeast United States.
