My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When the night has been too lonely and the road has been too long And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snows Lies the seed, that with the sun's love in the spring becomes the rose - from 'The Rose' by Bette Midler
And so goes the story of our beautiful Rose. So many lonely nights and scary roads with no hope of love until.....
Rose is gorgeous 10 month old reddish gold Lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix weighing 52 lbs. We don't believe she will get much bigger than 60 lbs if that. So now we can finish telling you the story of Rose. Like so many other unwanted pups, Rose was pretty much abandoned to survive on her own before ending up in a high kill southern shelter. Fortunately for this sweet girl life actually took a turn for the better! She was pulled by rescue and placed in a wonderful foster home where she has been learning how to be a well loved indoor pooch. Rose is house and crate trained. She is able to let herself out by way of a doggy door to a fenced in yard. Initially she was crated when foster family had to leave. Gradually as she learned house etiquette and boundaries she was allowed free run of the home. Foster mom says she has been really well behaved but does say she should be left with some good chew toys to keep herself entertained. Rose is very good on leash and she is working on learning a few commands. She seems to listen to every word said to her, and is very smart but sometimes it's just more fun to just plop down and roll like jello...okay she has mastered 'sit'. Rose is very affectionate and will give lots of kisses. She loves to be near those she adores (which is everyone). She is great other dogs, cats, and children. She seems to make a point of being gentle around little ones. She does have a tendency to use her mouth like an extra hand and will at times gently take hold of your hand if she needs your attention or just wants to say 'Hi! I love you!' As mentioned earlier...she's very affectionate. Rose is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and micro chipped. All she needs now is that special place to call her forever home with the people who will always be there for her. Rose may not have had the greatest beginning to her life but she learned that love can find it's way to even the most misfortunate of creatures. This girl is indeed the seed far beneath the bitter snows that with the suns love in the spring will become your Rose.
