My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~adoption fee applies, please email caarescue@gmail.com if serious about adoption~
My name is Coraline. I was in quite the horrific state when I arrived at the Montréal SPCA with matted fur so bad that I could not relieve myself properly, filthy, skinny and claws so long that I could barely walk.
I was really scared and nervous and not responding very well to anyone at there, so they contact CAA Rescue to ask if they could help me. My foster mom took one look at my picture and read half of my story and FLEW out of the house to race down to the SPCA to pick me up!
Everyone was sooooooooo happy that I joined CAA Rescue in foster care. I was a little confused and out of sorts the first couple of days but I could tell quite quickly that my foster mom was kind and gentle. I responded very quickly to her.
I enjoy sitting next to her and watching TV quietly .
I do live with another dog and cat in the home. & while I am still clearly learning what it means to “Have Friends” I am making small strides daily in becoming social and friendly.
I do like people very much and especially am really enjoy this Walking on a LEASH thing! I never did that before but boy oh boy I can tell you I like it A LOT!
I have not been left alone for any extended periods of time, just a few hours here and there. There was no anxiety or destruction.
I do live in an apartment in foster care, it is a nice and quiet, pet friendly building and currently I am causing no issues for my foster mom with the neighbors. I do normal barking like when someone is at the door or weird noises but nothing excessive at this time in foster care.
Although sometimes when I am uber happy I do like to walking around pretending to be a growly little bear cub… making growling noises. But they are cute and make my foster mom giggle – there is no meanness in chatty cathy ways. I just like to putter around talking to myself :)
I have been making great strides in the house training, clearly no one ever taught me anything about being clean! But my foster mom is!
She is working so hard to teach me and show me and remain positive …. and you know what?? Her hard work and dedication to making me a whole girl is starting to pay off because I am at least hitting the pee pad almost all of the time now.
I suspect if you adopt me and bring me home that this will be one of the things you will have to continue working on with me. Don’t expect me to walk in a new home and immediately know all the rules. I will need positive guidance, a routine and manageable expectations during my adjustment period. But just like I showed my foster mom what amazing potential I have to be a good and solid canine citizen I will show you too as long as you stick with me!
New and different things will scare me but that is to be expected when you consider I have not been exposed to much in my short little life. So I am learning now that little deviations from routines are not a reason to go run and hide! But this will take more time and patience with loving and gentle handles; I know I can and will get there to be a completely happy girl
I am a tiny girl weighing in at only 4.60 kilogram
And while I am shaved now if you ask CAA Rescue to see my original picture you will see that I am a medium to long haired doggie so I will require grooming to keep my pretty once my fur grows back in.
At this time in foster care I show no signs of possession or aggression. But I am shy with new people and new things so if you come to meet me you have to stay patient and just watch me with my foster mom to see what life can be like with me.
I have met children and have been kind to them but I would really need dog savvy respectful children and extremely attentive guardians because my life was not easy and I would not want to make a mistake thinking a child’s toy was mind, then get in trouble and end up abandoned again!
I am medium energy level dog
