DESCRIPTION Melody is the sweetest girl. She is absolutely in love with humans, and will demand love and affection as much as you will give it to her. She has giant paws and will use them to gently nudge you and remind you that she's there, waiting for love and snuggles. And if you forget, she'll nudge you again. She likes to nap while touching you at all times, whether you are in bed or on the couch, or floor, and gives hugs. When she's not cuddling with humans or other dogs, she's in full on puppy play mode. Now that this mama's puppies have been adopted, she absolutely LOVES being a puppy herself! She loves to chase toys (though pretty much does not bring them back) and loves to play with canine friends. She hasn't yet met a toy she doesn't like, and finds great joy in deconstructing stuffed toys. She is house and crate trained. She would love humans home with her at least part of the day as they, and getting affection from them, is what this girl loves best. She is so smart - sits before all her meals and knows she gets a treat at bedtime and sits patiently waiting for it. Her skin has a bit more healing to do, and she is still getting occasional baths. There are a few spots on her skin that may never have fur on them, but they give her an extra dose of character. This girl will win your heart in an instant - she's a gentle soul (well, unless you happen to have stuffing...).
Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: Physical fence required
UPDATE: Melody has put all that Mama stuff behind her and is focusing on her favorite things...treats and snuggles! She loves her 'night night bones' and waits patiently with her foster siblings each night for them. She loves food! And she's really good at catch! Her other favorite thing is snuggling, and she will happily throw her entire body weight into you and beg for belly rubs and cuddles. She likes to curl up on top of or next to her humans for maximum snuggle-ness. She is good with other dogs, but as she loves attention from her humans, a dog that gets jealous easily probably wouldn't love her. Melody visited the PetExpo last weekend and met lots of new friends - small and large dogs (she was in awe of the Danes), and asked every human she met for a hug. She is a sweet and gentle soul. She cannot wait to find the humans that will love and snuggle her forever!
Update: Miss Melody has had quite an exciting couple of weeks. Her foster mom went on vacation, so Melody did too! She went and hung out with a new foster and her extended pack - a total of 8 dogs, ranging in age from 3 to 11. She gets along with everyone - plays rough and tumble with the younger dogs, and respects the older ones that don't want to play. She also continued her award-winning snuggling. Melody is a dog who doesn't need other dogs (she really wants to get love, attention, belly rubs and chin nuzzles from her humans), but does fine with them too. She's mostly a quiet girl, only barking a few times. She enjoyed chasing and watching the squirrels at her temporary foster home. Melody loves to sun herself when the weather is nice, but hates the rain, most likely from her rough start living outside. She's the perfect balance of playful, goofy, sweet, energetic and lazy - she has moments of all them. Melody loves breakfast and dinnertime, and sits adorably waiting for her bowl to be put down. Her fur has come back in as much as it's going to - she has just a few spots where it won't, which just add to her character. She's still taking supplements and fish oil to continue to soften her fur and skin, but is finished with all her other medication. She's nearly perfect, and can't wait to find her perfect forever.
Update: Melody is having so much fun with her foster family. She loves to play fetch and has recently learned how to play "catch" as well! She started with treats, and has graduated to tennis balls too! Her eye-mouth coordination is great. Melody loves breakfast time, dinner time and snuggle time most of all. She's ready for her forever family - her coat looks wonderful and gets softer every day!
