My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Donation: $175.00

Just like 'Angelique,' our Lara Parker is enchanting, but ours is a sweet girl, not a witch!  Instead of a fairy tale, she has come out of a nightmare. Lara is a former breeder who has not been treated kindly. She is 8 years old and weighs about 10 pounds, just the right size to hold and cuddle; however, Lara is not used to being touched and is learning how nice it feels to get stroked and petted. She will not be good around young children.

Lara has clearly had a very tough life thus far. She is not used to being in a house and fears being touched or held. She is a major flight risk as she is terrified of all people.  For her safety, we will insist that her forever home have a fully fenced yard that is safe. We have hope that Lara will be able to learn to trust people over time.

She will require a very special owner who is familiar with integrating former mill dogs into a home setting.

Lara will need someone with a lot of patience and experience handling frightened dogs, but with a dog like Lara, persistence usually pays off. Once she loses her fear, she will bond with her person. As of now, we keep her harness and leash on her 24/7 so it is easier to catch her. She is allowed to move around freely so that she gets familiar with her new surroundings. Only experienced dog owners who have handled frightened dogs should apply for Lara. She has a tendency to snap when being picked up and you need to know how to manage that.

We will work with her to get her over her fears. Lara has been fully vetted, is heartworm negative and healthy. She is also learning house training but is not trained yet. This girl just needs consistent TLC. If you've got the skills and a heart full of love, why not give Lara a chance?

She's in Chattanooga, TN, settling in and starting a whole new life!
