Umbrella of Hope 'Be Our Pet'

8 month old, 7 lb Havanese Mix (soon to be tripod) NEUTERED MALE

***We are NOT accepting applications on Chewy.com until mid-April when he has fully recovered from his amputation surgery. We are trying to raise awareness and funding for his surgery and medical needs while in our rescue.  Thank you for understanding the limitiations of our all-volunteer group.  Donations can be made online and are tax-deductible at www.paypal.me/UOH***

Meet Mr Chewy.com (Yes, it is actually 'Chewy DOT com')

Chewy.com was named after Chewy.com and comes to us from CONTRA COSTA ANIMAL SERVICES

Chewy.com is an 8 month old, 7 lb your-guess-is-as-good-as-ours-but-we-are-running-with-Havanese-Mix. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and free of parasites. He is low-to-non-shedding and will need to be professionally groomed every six weeks.

He has a badly deformed back leg (likely a birth defect) and he has had several weeks of splinting and therapy to try to save it, but it has not worked and is not going to work and his veterinary team has decided that he is going to need to have it amputated. We are waiting for his surgery to be scheduled at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Tripod dogs do FINE and he will be in less pain for a shorter amount of time once it is gone.

He will not be available for adoption until he has healed from this procedure and we are expecting to accept applications on him in early-to-mid April.

We need to raise $1000 for Chewy.com to cover his medical expenses while in our rescue. We are a volunteer-run organization with no paid staff. Most of our volunteers have full-time unrelated jobs. We get no government funding and we are only able to help the hundreds of senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals that we save from euthanasia every year because of donations like yours.

You can do this by purchasing a shirt or sweatshirt from our Booster campaign for a few more days:https://www.booster.com/umbrellaofhopeanimalrescue

Or you can send a tax-deductible donation through PayPal www.paypal.me/UOH

Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5

Umbrella of Hope is a non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals off death row from local shelters. We offer rebates of adoption fees after completion of obedience classes and CGC titles.

Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet. Some of our senior animals have sponsorships for their food/vet care/medicine for the rest of their life at our vet in Pittsburg, CA (94565)

Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.  Other retired public servants, please let us know what career you retired from and we can let you know if we offer any discounts for your adoption

Please send an email to the Umbrella Of Hope Animal Director with any inquiries at beourpet@gmail.com. Detailed emails will be answered first.

We thank Maddie's Fund for their sponsorship, Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services, Lovely Grooming for our grooming needs, and Delta Dog Camp for training. We thank Memoirs of a Dog and Share the Joy Photography for the beautiful portraits of many of our animals and a special thanks to volunteer photographers Barbara, Kristy, Christine and Natalie.  Please support these businesses for supporting rescue!

To increase public awareness of homeless pets, encourage spay and neuter of companion animals, and promote adoption for the acquisition of family pets.
