Facts about Trixie

Trixie was brought to the shelter as a stray. She is a pretty blue heeler, and she has a lot of potential. Trixie will gladly, albeit cautiously, accept treats, but she is very visibly frightened, confused, and distraught in the shelter. Trixie is a sweet girl and she cautiously approaches one for petting and affection, so she does not have a 'wild nature'. She is just very frightened. Trixie is perhaps on the small side for a blue heeler, but she has a sweet, affectionate, loving soul hiding inside that frightened exterior. Trixie will be held at the shelter until she is reunited with her owner or until her stray hold expires, at which time she will be made available for adoption.

About Athens-Limestone Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Athens Limestone Animal Shelter is under contract with the Limestone County Commission and the city of Athens, Alabama to shelter and maintain the unwanted animals of Limestone County Alabama. These animals are delivered by Animal Control Officers and from individuals who live in Limestone County.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are open Monday-Friday for adoptions from 8 AM to 4:30 PM
On Saturdays we are open from 9 AM to 12 PM

Our Adoption Process...

The fee for adopting a dog is $110.00, no matter the age or gender of the pet. This fee covers the cost of the animal to be spayed/neutered & vaccines: DA2PP, Bordatella, and Rabies. The adoption fee also covers a fecal exam for worms and a heart worm test!

The fee for cats is $110.00 covers spay/neuter, and age appropriate vaccines.

It is very important that you understand that you CANNOT take pets from the shelter and breed them. Most of the animals came in as strays, therefore, we do not have any background or genetic information on them. Breeding these pets would not be in their best interest nor yours. Also, a Law was just passed in Alabama which requires that EVERY animal, adopted from a shelter, MUST be spayed or neutered!!
