My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweet little girl is approx 1 year old and 12 lbs.. She looks like a welsh terrier mix, she is a little timid and shy of people at first but loves to run and play with her rescue buddies, she loves toys and has a pile of them to play with, she would benefit from having a companion to keep her company, she will need some leash training and is doing pretty well on her house training, she will run in and out with the other dogs, she will need a fully fenced in and secure yard, she has a sweet disposition and gets along with every new dog she meets. From her foster mom:

"Spice is a very sweet dog and did very well at my house with 7 other dogs and 3 cats. It took Spice about 48 hours to settle in at my house. She loved to be outside in the fenced in yard with the other dogs. She also loved to collect all the food +/- water bowls and put them in her crate. If she got scared when outside she would just lay down and try and hide. I would walk up to her and tell her she was OK and she would just melt into my arms when I picked her up. It really only took her a few days to settle in. "

The total adoption donation of $525 individually or $800 as a bonded pair and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. The application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather than from a local foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.
