All About Me:
This is the second little girl that we rescued today. As you can see, she is really close to blessing us with several more little pups. We will keep you updated on their arrival in the coming days.
Her first rescue failed to pick her up so we took her into foster care. We love helping the dogs at the McDowell County Animal Shelter! Their constant commitent to working with rescues really shows their compassion to move dogs and cats into rescues.
Please help us to continue to rescue dogs in McDowell County by donating to our rescue! We can only help if, you continue to support our rescue with donations.
Donations can be mailed to Healing Hearts Small Animal Rescue, PO Box 1321, Old Fort NC 28762, called in to the Animal Hospital of Marion at 828-724-4774, or donated through our PayPal link at the top of our page.
We are located in McDowell County, North Carolina.

All known information about our dogs is listed under notes. We do not know how big a puppy will grow to be in adulthood. Please research the particular breed to see if this pet may be a good choice as a new member of your family.
Your first step in adopting a new family member is to fill out the free online adoption application. The adoption form must be filled out completely with phone numbers and a vet reference before it will be processed. Your application will not be processed without this information.
We sometimes receive many applications on one dog. Our goal is to place the dog in the best home possible based on his/her needs, personality and past history. Please note that adoptions are NOT done on a first come, first serve basis, and filling out an application does not guarantee the adoption of any dog. We reserve the right to refuse any applicant for inaccurate or false information. We are looking for the best possible home for this animal. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

You'll receive a copy, too, at to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures, on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
