Wallace's Story...
AVAILABLE 02-13-17 On 04-11-15 when POW Wallace was just 2 months old he was brought to the Shelter as a stray. Three months later he was adopted and lived with his family for almost 2 years. Unfortunately, Wallace was returned to the Shelter on 02-10-17, because he moved into a new household and was chasing the cat. The family reported that Wallace is housetrained - he will go to the door and bark when he needs to go out; he was good with their other dog as well as the 8 and 10 yr. old boys in the family; he enjoys car rides, leash walks and playing fetch. They described Wallace as a playful, curious, lap lover who likes to snuggle. He's neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. When Wallace was first returned to the Shelter he was really scared and confused; but once he realized that no one was going to hurt him, he began tail wagging and is always ready to take a walk. Only problem is after his walk he REALLY doesn't want to go back in his kennel. It would be wonderful if someone would take Wallace for a walk and not make him go back in his kennel, but let him walk to their car, take him home and love him FOREVER.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Wallace, a Elizabeth City Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Elizabeth City, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Elizabeth City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elizabeth City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elizabeth City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elizabeth City paves the way for another one to be saved.
