My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MAUI! Available for Adoption through Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue!

HERE'S THE SCOOP!
Meowy Maui as she is affectionately called arrived at the North Platte Animal Shelter in January 2017. She was an owner surrender because they were moving and couldn't keep her. Maui did remarkably well in the shelter. Although she is very active and loves attention, and cats of this nature usually decline quickly - she remained positive and friendly through out her 5 weeks in a kennel. Maui was actually adopted once, but she had to wait to be spayed and during that wait, the adopters realized their landlord wouldn't allow her - so she went back up for adoption. Five weeks is a REALLY, REALLY long time for a cat to be confined. Cats by nature are explorers, jumpers, climbers and playful. While the shelter kennels act as a safe place for them to wait, it takes a toll on a cat not being able to run or increase their heart rate like their mind wants them to.
We knew that it was time for Maui to get out of the shelter and into our FURcility. This would help her to be seen in a different light. To be seen as the playful, outgoing. social, spunky girl she is... sweet Meowy Maui with the vibrant yellow green eyes and cheerful voice. We were so happy to have her bright spirit at the FURcility!

FAMILY GOALS!
Maui is looking for a forever family. If you would consider rehoming a pet due to moving, allergies or family conflict, she asks that you do not adopt her - she'd like her next home to be her last.

Right off the bat, let me tell you Maui's most favorite thing in all the world... PEOPLE. She LOVES PEOPLE. She loves being by them, being pet by them, laying in their lap, sleeping near them and just having the company of people. If you are looking for a companion, you need not look any further. Maui will be the best friend and hilarious pal you've always wanted. Maui doesn't play too much. She will play here and there, but she spends most of her time wanting to just see what you are up to. She has little to no interest in her scratcher, as well. I have a feeling once she realizes she's found her forever home, that her playful side will pick up, but with us - she really just wants to be loved on. She is litter trained and prefers dry food to canned food. She loves her comfy cozy bed and enjoys catnip. Maui was in a home with other cats and has played with the FURcility's "Eden" as well. Maui is good with kids and is very tolerant all around. She doesn't mind lots of activity and doesn't mind a lot of commotion. She is not scared of dogs in the least and would do fine in a home with them. She would make a great pet for an active family as she is very confident and scared of nothing. Speaking of 'scared of nothing' - Maui really doesn't have any fear and she is not one to keep her feelings inside - she HATES the vacuum and she WILL get mad at it. While most cats run from such a device, Maui was the opposite. She went right up to that vacuum, hissed at it and slapped it several times. For the vacuum safety, I decided it best to use the broom. Maui is ok with brooms, and mops. But be on the lookout during cleaning time because she may just give your sweeper a wallop or two!
Meowy Maui also likes to chat. She didn't do it as much in the shelter, but at the FURcility - she has a lot to say. She will literally hold a conversation with you - "Hi Maui!" MEOW "How are you today Maui?" MEOW "Are you having a good day Maui?" MEOW!
Maui is fun, loving and has a unique personality that will steal your heart. She will do best in a home where someone is with her most of the time, because people are her favorite thing of all.... so it's people she shall have. <3

HOW DO I MAKE MAUI A PERMANENT FAMILY MEMBER?
-Message the page for our adoption application. This will help us determine if your home is the home of Maui's dreams! A purrfect fit is important to us. Upon that determination, we will have you stop in to meet Maui at the FURcility!
-We allow for a 2 week trial run to make sure a proper placement for all involved.
-An adoption agreement is then completed.
-Maui's adoption fee is $100.
--We have a No Declaw Policy. Please keep this in mind when considering adopting. Our rescues cannot be declawed.
Like all our rescues, Maui is very important to us. We are excited to help her find her Purrfect Family. If you can't adopt, please share. Thanks!
