My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Playful, Young Rika Will Make the Perfect Companion!

11-month old, medium, black and tan, female German Shepherd
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with children: Yes
Good with cats: Unknown

Cute, playful, young and gorgeous! No, it’s not a reality TV show, it’s Rika! Rika is an owner surrender.
Her family realized that they do not have the time and attention this 11-month old needs. Rika is very
active, and very smart, so she’ll need some training. But her amazing foster family says that she picks up
commands very quickly and feels that with some training, she’ll be a great family dog.

As a young, very active girl, she needs a home that will provide her with a way to work off that energy in
a productive manner. Agility, scent work, flyball, or something for Rika to do is necessary to keep her
physically and mentally stimulated. She would love to go hiking and/or running with her family!

Rika is great with kids, although she is high energy, so she may knock little ones down. She LOVES other
dogs, and wants to play all the time. And get this, she is already crate-trained and housebroken and has
learned several commands in just a short time with our fantastic fosters, the Conrads.

Rika loves to meet new people. She is a friendly girl and gets excited about it. She also likes car rides!
We will be looking for a home that is committed to training for this girl, and understands the needs of a
GSD puppy.

If you are looking for an INDOOR companion, and might want to consider Rika, please fill out our
online
application
to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved
application! All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses.
Many juggle family and full-time careers while volunteering at Saving Paws. Please be patient as
sometimes it takes up to 5 days to process an application.
