We welcome specific questions. Due to high volume of applications, we may not be able to respond immediately. Your patience is appreciated.
If an animal is on our website, it is still available but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, it is in your best interest to submit an application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
As an all-volunteer, foster home based organization, ARF does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we must give priority to pre-approved applicants.
Cola is an 8 month old, female, 30 pound Border Collie/Cattle dog mix. She is well adjusted and not fearful. She is very friendly and curious! Cola likes to follow her people around and do what they are doing. She loves to play with toys and chew on bones. Cola likes to go for walks and walks nicely on a leash, all bouncy and happy. She has no issues getting into and out of cars.
She gets along with other animals, and only barks when someone comes to the door. Cola is a sweetheart of a doggie!
Cola is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and will be spayed after March 20th. Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Cola' s adoption fee is $250. A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Cola fill out an online application today! http://arf-il.org/application.html Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.
If you’re invited to meet an animal, plan to arrive on time or early,
as we cannot hold animals.
All household members must be present at time of adoption, including dogs.
We appreciate your cooperation.

You'll receive a copy, too, at to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures, on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
