Tandy, she is about 4yo and 40 pounds (estimated birthday given to her is 3/14/2013.) Tandy was our email plea for a foster home asking for a Valentine's Day miracle. Not only did she get her miracle BUT she delivered her 5 puppies on Valentine's Day (not ideal in the shelter) but we were able to transfer her and her 3-day old puppies safely to EAPL.
Tandy wanted to be a wonderful mom, she is so gentle and so trusting however the odds just were not in her favor. She had pyometra and had to be spayed at her pups tender age of just 10 days old, then she came down with pneumonia and now she she will be undergoing care for her heartworm. Tandy is so very ready to be spoiled and pampered! She has been through so much and she loves pets, hugs and to be showered with attention.
EAPL will work with her adopter's on her heartworm treatment. EAPL will cover the cost associated with her heartworm treatments (the immedicide injections and her 6mo follow up blood test to insure she is cleared). We have worked with many HW positive dogs and we have an amazing team of vet's that have successfully treated our dogs. Tandy's vet is in Colorado Springs, Belcrest Animal Clinic. The treatment usually lasts about 2mo (with kennel rest) and she is non-contagious to other dogs while going through her treatment (it is transmitted by mosquitos). Once her treatment is completed, she will be a normal happy active dog! Put in your application today and one of our volunteers can talk to you about heartworm treatment and the process.
