Facts about Tac

  • Breed: Parakeet - Other
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Unknown
  • Sex: Unknown
  • ID#: 220346
Tic, Tac and Toe are three lovely Parakeets that have to be adopted together. This bird was co-housed with a sick bird which tested positive for a Mycobacterium species and may have been exposed. Results of recent studies indicate that mycobacteriosis in psittacine birds is unlikely to represent a significant health risk for humans. However, the potential for zoonotic disease must be considered, especially if persons who are immunocompromised are in contact with an infected bird. Immunocompromised individuals should not adopt this bird due to to this issue and the possibility that this bird was exposed and harbors mycobacterium.
This bird has appeared generally well (no overt signs of illness) since shelter entry over 45 days ago. We are hopeful that with good husbandry, this bird will continue to be healthy and happy. We encourage the adopter(s) to discuss this issue, and proper husbandry, with their own veterinarian.
Primary Color: Grey
Secondary Color: Pink
