Arkansas's Story...
Hi my name is Arkansas and I ain’t nothing but a hound dog! I am a real gentleman with a calm disposition. I enjoy walking and hanging out with my human friends at BCAR. Being a hound mix I experience the world through my nose and find everything very interesting. I had a bit of hard luck until the folks at BCAR took me in. They are taking good care of me and most importantly I get plenty of good food. I enjoy human contact and know to be gentle with small humans. I really like it when I get to hang out with the humans and they give me treats! I am a Hound mix, 55 lbs. ~ 7 years old
We prefer a home with children over the age of 5 who will be able to assist in the pet’s care. All of our dogs are placed as indoor family pets. No electric fences, please. Visit the BCAR Open House from 11 am - 2 pm on Saturday and fill out an adoption form or please visit our website to learn more about our rescue at and click on WANT TO ADOPT?
or go directly to the adoption form below.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Arkansas, a Big Canoe Hound (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Big Canoe, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Big Canoe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Big Canoe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Big Canoe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Big Canoe paves the way for another one to be saved.
