My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this. Max is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with his caretaker in Lake Tahoe, CA.

Max
12 year old, M, Maine Coon/Ocicat Mix, Front Paw Declawed

We all know it is never easy to adopt out an older kitty, let alone two. We know that most people want a young cat (or two); preferably kittens. However, as anyone who has ever opened their heart and home and adopted a senior kitty can attest to, no matter how long or how short of a life we can offer these special creatures, every minute you get to spend with them is a blessing to be treasured.
If you find yourself hesitating about adopting an older kitty, please read this wonderful, thought provoking blog: http://purebredsplus.org/for-a-limited-time-only/

So here we have Max and Oscar. Their owner passed away and the sister, who is currently the caretaker of these two handsome boys, unfortunately is allergic to cats. Before we saw the pictures of these kitties, we asked the caretaker what breed they are – they are classified as Ocicats by the vet. Hmmm, they sure don’t look like traditional Ocicats, but if they were cross bred with a Maine Coon, then that would explain their unusual, very nice looks and their smaller bodies.

Both kitties do not look nor act their age. They both act very young and have lots of energy. Max has established himself as more of the Alfa kitty. He doesn’t seem to enjoy being picked up (a lot of kitties actually don’t), but he sure loves his belly rubs!!!

Oscar on the other hand doesn’t mind being picked up and loves being scratched under the chin. He also goes crazy for laser light, while Max enjoys his feather toys. As active boys, they also enjoy the occasional game of wrestling with each other.

Their caretaker has not seen them interact with small children since she doesn’t have any that come for a visit, but she has never seen them aggressive. They also haven’t been with other kitties, but again, they are so sweet and very docile so they may not mind integrating into a home with non-aggressive resident kitties

We do know that they have been introduced to 2 English Bulldogs – the kitties don’t interact with the dogs, they seem a little intimidated, but we’d expect with gentle dogs they would be fine.
They were declawed, probably as kittens, but don’t seem to have any issues related to being declawed.

Because their caretaker lives in a high altitude, they seem to have some slight allergies right now, but we’d expect in the right environment and with the right food, they’ll be perfectly fine.
They seem to have sensitive tummies, and again that could very well be related to the high altitude. They recently had vet checks and were declared to be healthy.

Their caretaker is willing to help with providing partial transport of these kitties to their forever home.
If you are willing and able to give these two wonderful boys a permanent home, please contact Frauke at 925-784-8244 or loveallcats7@gmail.com and submit an Adoption Application.
Please note that Oscar is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with his caretaker in Lake Tahoe, CA while being placed in his forever home.
