My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AVAILABLE IN THE MIDWEST AND NEW ENGLAND REGIONS. Hunter is fantabulous!!!!! Be still my heart and look at those freakin eyes! Hunter was a LLR adoption and was returned. But not to his own fault. Unfortunately, his adopters were not well suited for him. So lets step back to Hunter's story from the beginning before he was even rescued! He has had a very difficult life. When he came to LLR, he was so super skinny. His previous owners had beaten him and starved him. Hunter managed to get away from them and found himself at a rural county shelter where there are caring workers and wouldn’t allow him to go back to that same abuse. Thats when he came to LLR. LLR nursed him back to health, vetted him, and found, what we thought, was a great home. Unfortunately, that home did not work out for him so he found himself in need of another new home. Hunter has some resource guarding issues and is not good with cats. Hunter is one of the sweetest boys we know. He loves to be loved, great with other dogs, and loves his people. He needs an experienced dog owner who knows how to handle a dog like Hunter and NO CATS! He is house trained, crate trained, walks well on lead and takes treats rather nicely. He is not food aggressive, but has some resource guarding with high value toy items and bones. It is all very manageable with a little bit of smarts in making provisions for him and his issues. He will not be placed with young children however, respectful older teenaged children are fine as long as they understand what Hunter needs. We know it sounds like a lot, but honestly, this boy is one of the easiest boys ever! He is gentle, easy going, mild mannered and just loving and adoring all wrapped up in one handsome package. Hunter is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and is heart worm negative. He is microchipped and has been kept on frontline and heart guard. Please if you are interested in adopting him, we would be happy to discuss his story and his needs. Complete an online application and request him on the notes section.
