My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet  NutmegNutmeg  is a very sweet fluffy girl and is approximately 8-9 years young. While we do not have a history on this beautiful girl, we know it wasn't a good one.  Nutmeg  was found in the Fall of 2016 wandering the streets sick, hungry and alone. This poor girl wasn't feeling well at all and was in constant pain due to a broken tooth, cysts covering her uterus and inflammatory bowel disease. Our vet suspects she could have been used as a puppy mill breeding dog. Whatever her background- she doesn't have to worry about that anymore! All of her medical conditions have been treated and  Nutmeg  is fully recovered from her surgery to get remove her uterus and her broken tooth. This sweet girl was on a medical hold with us for some time to get her inflammatory bowel disease under control, but she is doing great now and has had an entire work up to rule out any other issues.  Nutmeg  has a sensitive belly but we have found an easy plan for her that keeps her belly aches away. Nutmeg  is on prescription dog food (can purchase at a vet, store like Petsmart, or online), one low dose steroid pill  once a day  (very inexpensive and she takes it great!) and one Vitamin B12 injection once a week (very inexpensive and easy to administer). She will require a simple blood test twice a year to ensure he medicines are working correctly. With these dietary changes, her medicine, her surgery,  and lots of love- this girl has blossomed.  She is absolutely adorable and has the cutest smile!

Nutmeg  gets along great with other dogs with her same energy level. She does not enjoy the company of her over zealous foster puppy brother, and will let him know when he is being to rough. She would be best with a calmer dog and one that doesn't pounce on her all the time! She seems to like her foster kitties a bit too much and will chase them from time to time (about 1x a week) so a home without cats is preferable or a home with a very tolerant kitty.  She does  great  with older children as well, but as she is a calmer girl, she would prefer a house without small children. She would prefer a calm house where she can relax and snuggle.  Nutmeg  does well with house training as long as she's kept on a schedule and she simply LOVES to go for short walks. She enjoys sunning herself outside and would love a fenced in yard where she could spend time exploring and relaxing in the sun, but it is not a requirement.   Nutmeg  walks well on a leash and does well riding in the car. However If you are looking for a dog to take everywhere with you-  Nutmeg  is not that dog. She gets a bit anxious in public situations (can you blame her after being homeless and alone) and she prefers to wait for her people to return in the comfort of her home.  For whatever reason  Nutmeg  does not like to be picked up and carried around but loves to be with her people and will often follow you from room to room just to be with you. She is playful at times and will enjoy a game of fetch or tug o war with her foster sister.  Nutmeg  does shed minimally and will require regular grooming.  Nutmeg  deserves all the best! She just wants a family to call her own who she can snuggle with and be the princess that she is! Nutmeg  knows that the perfect family is out there waiting for her that wont mind her sensitive tummy issues. She cant wait to meet them and settle down into her happily ever after!

Nutmeg  is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, micro chipped,  heartworm negative, and  on monthly flea and tick and heartworm prevention . Her adoption fee is $200.
