Willow was brought in as a stray to a very small rural animal shelter where dogs very rarely make it out alive. Like almost all of the strays, Willow was never claimed which meant her fate was grim. One of our volunteers saw Willow on her last day, curled up in the corner of her kennel, head hung low, seemingly without a glimmer of hope in her eyes. Our volunteer knew then that we needed to save Willow and help restore her faith in people and life itself.

Willow is a very sensitive girl, and anyone who knows dogs know that the sensitive dogs often bond the deepest. We'll never know if anything happened to make her cautious, or if that's just her genetic makeup; after all, some people take time to open up, too. She is a little shy around strangers but with those in her inner circle, she is very affectionate, and she is so appreciative of a gentle touch and a gentle voice. Once she bonds, she is never far from her people, either walking right alongside or following just behind. And Willow is a dog's dog -- she loves wrestling with the dogs at her foster home and she gets the most joy from running full throttle through water. This girl's got to have water-dog in her genes somewhere -- swimming comes so natural for her!

We think Willow is just under a year old, she weighs about 40 pounds and may have a bit more to grow. We have no idea what her true mix is, but those eyes will melt right through you! Willow would love a home with another friendly dog and/or cat (although it is not a requirement) but we think small children will worry her so we prefer children in the home be teens and above. If you have a little extra TLC for beautiful Willow, please visit www.pinkshelter.org for more information about the adoption process or click here for our online application. Full vetting and spay included in her $400 adoption fee. Transport fee is additional $140. IF YOU HAVE AOL or YAHOO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FILE FOR OUR RESPONSE
