My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Maria and I, broken heartedly, have to try to re-home my girl. She is a Pitt/Lab possibly Boxer mix and is going to be 7 years young at the end of March and is up to date on all her shots. She weighs about 55 pounds.

I adopted her in 2012 from Halo and she has been my best friend ever since. She has always been there for me through it all. I adopted her when I was at a very low point in my life and because of her unconditional love, she helped me through it all. She has been by my side no matter what to give me kisses and cuddles whenever I needed them. She is always excited for mom and dad to get home so we can shower her with love.

She got the nick name Booger because she loves to be in your face and give kisses. Sometimes out of pure love she will give you lots of kisses and nibble your ear. She loves belly rubs, butt scratches, neck scratches and head rubs. She loves walks and small hikes, cuddling and playing with her favorite toys. What she enjoys most is belly rubs and morning snuggles. She loves to hop into bed with us and say good morning and get morning snuggles. Lucy has so much love to give and I know she would make a wonderful addition to someone who is looking for a companion.

She can be possessive of items and a little territorial. She is food aggressive with other dogs and prefers playing with her human rather than other dogs. She will let another pup know if they are getting too close for her comfort and when she doesn’t want to play.

She is fully potty trained, and eats her food when we are eating ours. She is very vocal and will let you know when she needs or wants something. When we moved into the house we are in now, she did have a few accidents until she got acquainted with where she was supposed to go potty. We currently have a doggy door and she comes in and out as she needs. During the summer, she is a total California girl and likes to lay in the dirt and sunbathe. During the winter, she likes to snuggle up in blankets and stay warm. She does sleep in her own bed during the night and she has two, one in our bedroom and one in the living room.

My hope for Lucy is that she will be able to help someone the same way she has helped me. If it wasn’t for her unconditional love, I do not know where I would be. Knowing that I had her to come home to always made me see the positive side of things. She is absolutely wonderful.

This is truly the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. I am so heartbroken.

The reason we have to re-home her is because we have to move. The house is getting sold around April. We will have to be out around the beginning or mid-April and where we are moving to, we can’t take her with us. We will be moving in with other people and are not able to have her with us. Please understand that if we could bring her, I would in a heartbeat. This is the last thing that I want to do.
