My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm Ava, I'm talented and know lots of tricks!

Age: 4 years old
Sex: Female
Size: Large
Good With Dogs: Very dog selective
Good With Cats: Yes
Good With Children: Not recommended
Issues: Some food and object guarding
Ava is a beautiful 4 year old German Shepherd Siberian Husky mix whose owner turned to GSRNJ to help find her a new home. She is quite the talented young lady. Not only was she professionally trained but her owner taught her some fun tricks too. She knows how to bow, she can weave in and out of your legs, give a high-five, she can open drawers and is also learning how to turn on the lights. Think of all the fun you can have with this smart girl!

Not only is Ava fun and smart, she is active too! In the summer all you need to do is grab your running shoes and Ava is ready to bolt – she’s a great running and hiking partner! The cold winter months don’t get Ava down. She looks forward to her time on the treadmill – she can do a mile in 15 minutes! When she isn’t busy exercising and working on her girlish figure, Ava enjoys sitting at your feet catching a few z’s or soaking up some ear scratches and belly rubs.

Due to her activity level Ava will need a strong GSD experienced handler who will continue to use the commands she already knows and will continue to stimulate her mind. She will thrive in a home as the only dog and with no children. She is ok with kitty friends.

Ava is part of our Owner Referral program, she is spayed and up-to-date on shots. She is allergic to dust and has food allergies and requires a special diet that needs to be grain free and soy free, and also requires special baths. She does have some object guarding issues but because she is so sharp on her commands this is manageable with an experienced owner.
