My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Dante's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Kansas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Dante tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Pomeranian mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Dante became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future.

At just 2.5 - 3 years old and 12 lbs, this very beautiful guy is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Dante to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it.

Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Dante and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success!

Dante gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he appears to be mostly Pomeranian with a bit of Tibetan Spaniel .. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible!

When Dante turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Dante's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family (or adults with older dog-loving kids) for Dante. It''s not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Dante appears to be more comfortable around the energy of adults or older kids. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Dante, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Dante would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 12 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious dogs
.
Dante is so grateful being out of the shelter that there's almost a smile on his beautiful face. Dante is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of loving, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Dante's rescuer is very happy to report that Dante is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Dante will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life.

Dante will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Kansas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Dante's neuter and microchip immediately after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used.

Dante will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 3/21/17. Applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly guy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
