Name:  Moose   Breed:  lab/Dutch Shepherd mix

Approximate Age:  2 years old

Approximate Weight:  70 lbs

Currently Living at:  DC area temporary foster home -- Moose needs a forever home ASAP!!

Meet Moose!  Moose is a 2 year old male lab mix and he's incredibly sweet AND handsome!  Moose is a bigger boy, loves to walk, and loves people. Got lots of hugs from this young man!  Moose has beautiful coloring, black coat with gold markings. Happy, loyal boy!  Can you find room in your heart and your home to welcome him?  He will be a wonderful friend for some lucky person or family!

Moose has very nice house manners!  He's a shy boy, though, so he must go to a home where there is already a resident dog to help him be confident and happy.

Moose says...Hi there, everyone!  They call me Moose, and they say that I'm just the cutest, sweetest boy EVER!!  Do you have room in your heart and home for a pup like me?  I have a gorgeous, shiny and uniquely colored coat that's super-soft and smooth…great for petting me (hint hint). :-)  I weigh about 70 pounds (large but not huge), which makes me a perfect size for an apartment, house or condo!!  They say I am probably some sort of lab mix…all I know is that I'm a happy pup and I love to play, get lots of pets, and give lots of doggie kisses!

Read below for more info on Moose, and email ASAP if you are interested in him!

I don't know why, but somehow I ended up in the scary shelter.  The shelter says that I am one of their absolute favorites, and they HOPE that some nice person will come along to help me get out of here very soon!

Don't you think I would look really cute as your new Facebook cover photo, romping around in the sunshine and rolling in the grass (or snow!)?  And how I'd love to snuggle up by you while you sip a hot mug of cocoa as we stay warm inside.  I just really want to run, play, then snuggle, nap and dream of all the adventures we'll have together.  I would just LOVE trips to the dog park and hikes in the woods -- I love to discover new things!

Sweet Moose makes friends with everyone he meets!  At around 1 year old, he is past the baby puppy phase (no all-night crying or bathroom breaks every 2 hours!) but like any young dog, still needs lots and lots of exercise to stay happy and healthy.

Moose's new person or family will need to make sure he gets lots of socialization and playtime with other dogs and people to keep up the good social skills he has already!  And like all dogs we adopt out, he'll need to go to obedience classes to build a strong bond with his people, and help him become a well behaved companion or family member.  Moose seems to like all the people he meets, and can't wait to wiggle his way into your heart and home.

Like most young dogs, Moose will need a refresher on his house training when he gets to a new home.  He will also need to go to obedience school so he can continue to be a well-socialized dog!

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery.  If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and e-mail it to at Sheila at ASAP!

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
