Jack's Story...
Jack is an 18lb, 11 year old Bichon.
Jack was bright to the shelter when his owners died at age 10. Since the Houston shelters don't have the resources to do thorough checks before adoption, Jack was adopted out to someone who was unable to care for him. He was turned back in 5 months later a complete mess. It looked like he had been living outside, and one of his eyes had gotten so dirty and infected that they actually had to remove it. This story touched our hearts more than most usually do, just because had such a great life up until about a year ago, and since then he has been living a nightmare. We want to give Jack the amazing life he deserves for years he has left. Jack is healthy and happy now, and we see a long life in front of him. Bichon's can live way into their late teens, or actually, early 20's.

Jack has been in foster care for about a month now, getting the treatment and care he needed to heal and make a full recovery. He gets along great with all the fosters other dogs, even the not so nice ones. He LOVES kids and LOVES all people. Jack loves to be with his people as much as possible. His favorite place is snuggling on the couch with his foster mom or foster brothers and sisters. One requirement we do have is that Jack be allowed to sleep in bed with you. He loves to snuggle all through the night and we would hate to see that taken away from him. He is just such a love. His foster mom says he loves to go on hikes and acts like a young dog a lot of the time. He still has enough endurance for the harder walks or hikes, but is also easy going about if he doesn't get walks or hikes. He is just a truly easy going, loving little guy. We want only the best of the best for Jack in his golden years, and know he deserves it.

Jack will need regular grooming appointments to keep him looking hansom. His adoption fee is $225.00

  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boulder breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bichon Frise breeders who help with Bichon Frise rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Boulder paves the way for another one to be saved.
