Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.

Kodiak (orange male) & Sitka (calico female) are brother and sister and BFFs!!!!

Kodiak’s likes- Playing with toys, cuddling, purring loudly, sitting in my human’s lap, and hanging out with my sister!

Dislikes- Party Poopers! I prefer affectionate humans that know how to have fun!

My foster mom and her friends brag about what good kitties we are. I really love being with people and the other foster cats, but do you know what I would love most of all? Being adopted with my sister Sitka! We promise to give you all the love and cuteness you can handle

About Humane Society of Washington County

About Our Rescue Group...

The Humane Society of Washington County was primarily an organization that provided spay and neuter funding for low income families. Spay and neutering is still at the front of our organization but we have also incorporated fostering and adoptions of animals. We are committed to see our community to become a no kill community. Our organization is not funded by local government, we rely only on spay neuter grants and fund raising. We have grown tremendously in the last year with over 100 dogs in foster care. Our cat program began in November of 2014 and is expanding into a feral program. We have 35 cats in our program and have located barns in our area that will let us place feral cats if individuals do not want them returned to their neighborhoods. We continually fund those in need of spay or neuter as well as all animals prior to adoption are spayed or neutered. To continue to grow, we need donations for our programs and those links are available on our website under giving. We also need volunteers. The volunteer application is also available on our website. Working together we will become a no kill community.
