Sammy's Story...
Hi! I'm Sammy a 2 year old yellow lab that was picked up by DLRR due to wounds. I'm a big boy, 83 pounds, but so far I've been a total love. I'm housebroken but REALLY interested in what's on the counter although my favorite thing is to watch my foster mom chase me around the house after I've spread toilet paper all around! I like my foster brothers and sister but what I really want is to be pet all the time. My foster family doesn't have cats--so I'm not sure about them but so far I haven't met an animal I didn't like. I am a master of the doggy door and don't hesitate to use it. I am recovering from a skin infection and ear infection so my fur has been shaved so my pictures don't really do me justice--when I decide to hold still and let my foster mom take one (which as you can see is not often!) My skin issue might be due to allergies--I'm still deciding what makes me more comfortable but I will try and give my foster mom a before and after picture so my forever family can see what happened to me. I am from Nogales so I have Heartworm Disease but the great people at DLRR are treating me for it. I would be an EXCELLENT addition to any household--especially one that would take me on walks...or hiking...or on a vacation...or sneak me treats...or spoil me rotten.

If you are interested in this dog, please fill out an application at www.DLRRphoenix.org. Someone will call to schedule a home visit so you can become an approved adopter. Also, visit our wonderful Facebook page at www.facebook/desertlab. Thanks!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a Phoenix Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Phoenix, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Phoenix.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Phoenix already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Phoenix breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Phoenix paves the way for another one to be saved.
