Tippi aka Bella, born approximately 7/10/10, was recently returned to rescue. Previous adopter/owner wrote:
I'm sending you a couple of current pictures of my dear Bella. She is a lovely cat that needs more attention than I can give her. She is the kind of cat that will lay across your legs or ankles if you're reclining or just be near you in general. She doesn't like to be picked up and held and that's since she was a kitten. She prefers to come to you when you are lying down or reclining. She's very sweet and doesn't ever use her claws or bite. She even raises her head to meet your hand when you go to pet her. Very sweet!

She did get along with my other cat Missy but Missy stopped accepting her when she got sick and I haven't had the time to bring them back together again. Missy is more dominant and was jealous of any affection that Bella showed me. She'd shoo her away from me many times so I think Bella would be best in a home with no other cat.

She's fine with my dogs (German Shepherds) once she got to know them. My older shepherd and her were best buds and would lie together on the floor. My newer shepherd is young and likes chasing her which is not to Bella's liking as much. So a mello dog would also work well for Bella.

She likes a feather on a pole to play with and loves to chase a laser light. She's very smart and figures things out pretty quickly. She likes things to claw on. I have a tall cat tree that she likes a lot but I need to keep it here for Missy. If she's afraid of a new situation, she may hide but will come out for cat treats.

She will eat only Friskies Indoor Delights! I had a problem last year where I was trying to switch her to a lower calorie food and she stopped eating entirely. I had to take emergency measures having an esophageal tube inserted into her esophagus from her neck and had to tube feed her until I found a food she would eat again. I don't recommend changing her food to avoid that happening to her again. Because I don't have much time for her, she usually will only eat when I'm standing next to her..... the same with drinking water. She used to do these things independently but the home situation here has made her needy for attention at meal times. I think if she has a person that can be her person she will do fine.

I try to have a regular schedule with her feeding time like early morning about 7:30am to 8:30am and then again in the evening around 5pm to 6pm. You need to stay with her until she's taken in enough food and water right now but expect that will change as she adapts to someone being with her more often. If she goes into a starvation mode, it's very dangerous, and needs immediate vet attention. As long as her food is the right kind and you stay with her to see that she eats, she'll do fine. I expect her to return to normal eating after she settles in and knows that some one is there for her. The food she likes has even helped her coat to become smooth and shiny.

I so want her to have the best home possible. She would love a person who has time for her. She is one of the sweetest cats I've known.

Adoption events are held at the Fair Oaks Petco (Madison at Hazel) on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4pm.
