My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Maxine, a one year old German Shepherd. I am super smart and playful. You can't even tell I only have three legs! Whatever happened in my past is ancient history and I am looking forward to what the future has in store for me. I am a young and energetic dog that needs room to run in a fenced in backyard. I want to play with cats and a meet and greet is recommended with other dogs before we go home. I also have separation anxiety and will need a family that is home for me. I cannot be in alone in crate due to my past. I love going for car rides and walks, and playing fetch! I also love snuggling up with my people. I do have an eagerness to learn new things so I should be easy to train. If I could be the companion for you, please fill out an application today.

****My adoption fee is $350.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
