  • Species: Pig (Farm)
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 164671
02/25/2017 - OWNER TURN IN: The owner is no longer home often enough to care for her any longer. She is about 3 or 4 years old and was spayed at as a piglet. She used to be a house pig and was potty trained. She would potty in a large litter box that was made for her. She was not a fan of the tile floor and would rather be outside if there is not carpet. She good with dogs, large and small. She has also been raised around cats. She only eats 3/4 of a Big Gulp cup of potbelly pig food once a day. No table scraps! She is not leash trained but she will follow you around for popcorn. She does NOT like to be picked up. We do not know her exact weight but she is estimated to be around 60 pounds. CS 03/14/2017 - Pink has done very well adjusting to her foster home and there are no obvious medical issues that have been seen. She lives outside and also likes to join you in the home. She does very well with dogs (large and small) and cats. She will sleep next to your bed on (or under) a padded dog bed if you let her in at night. She can also sleep outside in her pig house without a problem. Pink has been switched to a twice a day diet of potbelly pig food and some fresh veggies or greens. She will greet you at the front door in the morning and also come up to the car when you get home from running errands. She loves to cruise the yard with the dogs or hang out on the back patio with the human family. It takes her some time to get to know new people but does like the interraction. Popcorn is her favorite treat and she will follow you around the yard for it. CS Adoption fee: $35.00 THIS PET IS CURRENTLY HOUSED IN AN APPROVED FOSTER HOME. ***Applications now being accepted***

Our Adoption Process...

Interested in Adopting or Rescuing an animal from our facility? E-mail your contact information, rescue organization's name (if applicable) and the animal's identification number to: avasrescues@applevalley.org

All adopters must submit an adoption application for review and approval. When multiple adopters are interested in the same animal, approved applicants will be placed into a lottery, which will be drawn the morning the pet becomes available for adoption. AVAS staff will work with interested adopters/rescuers to determine the best placement for animals in our care. The priority will be placement into a permanent loving home.

Adoption fees:

Cats: $35 Includes: Spay/Neuter, free well pet check (participating veterinarians), first vaccine, and an educational adoption packet

Dogs: $75 + $10 for rabies vaccine + license fees in your area ($12 for residents of Apple Valley, $15 SB County) Includes: Spay/Neuter, first vaccines, free well pet check (participating veterinarians), a microchip (life-long registration) and an educational adoption packet.

Tax-exempt 501(c)3 Animal Rescue Organizations (as defined by the Internal Revenue Code) may transfer animals into their care at a reduced rate. Proof of tax-exempt status and a current Cooperative Transfer Agreement must be on file with AVAS. Terms and Fees outlined in agreement.

Animal Rescue Organizations or individuals forming a group to rescue animals that do not have a tax-exempt 501(c)3 status may contact AVAS staff for pre-approval of an Animal Rescue Organization Agreement (valid for 1-year). Terms outlined in agreement.

Microchips can also be purchased for owned animals for $20.00.

A microchip is a life-long form of identification that can never be lost or misplaced like traditional collars and tags. Microchips help us to get animals back to their owners even months after they have given up hope!
