Lincoln came to us from NC after his owner died and there was no family to take him.  We noticed he had a wobble walk and after x-rays, we discovered he had a narrowing of the spinal column in his lower back.  This is making his back end weaker therefore he wobble-walks, but that does not stop him from getting around or running faster than the wind.  He does have just a bit of incontinence some days but can hold it all night and go out in the morning and do his business, so he is mostly house broken.

With all that being said, Lincoln is a great dog.  He loves to sit in your lap at night or whenever you sit down and he’ll cover himself up with a blanket no matter if it’s on the couch or in a doggie bed.  He loves attention but will share that attention with other dogs and does well with all.  NO cats.  He doesn’t like those little creatures and feels they should be banished from the earth.

Lincoln can be so fast that if you don’t watch going out of your house or gate, he’ll escape and be gone like the wind.  Foster mom and dad have already chased him around the neighborhood so caution would need to be used around open doors.

If you are looking for a friend that will follow you everywhere and go everywhere with you, then look no further, Lincoln is your man!!

Please help him find his last forever home to live out his life!

=============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

About All American Dachshund Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a non-profit organization that rescues dachshunds from shelters, owner surrenders and fully vets them including dental and heartworm treated if needed and all health issues addressed before they are put on the website to be adopted. We do this due to the fact that there are so many Dachshunds out there that are bred and brought by people that don't know the breed and after they get the dog home and find out after a couple of months that they can't housebreak the dog and it's not good with their kids, they dump the dog in the shelters or if we are lucky they contacts us. Some Dachshund are not so lucky and get shifted to several homes or are sold to puppymills that bred them into the groud.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our dogs are in foster homes in TN, AL, LA, KY, AR, AZ, NY, CT, VA, MD, NC, FL, and GA. They can not be seen at any one place but all foster homes are happy to send you additional pictures or answer any questions you may have in regards to their fosters. We do not have any regular place that we go to to show off our dogs but if you are close to the foster home we will be glad to meet you somewhere to show you a or any dogs that you may be interested in.

You do have to fill out an online adoption application at and we will do a phone interview, check your references and vet and we WILL DO a homevisit no matter what state you are in. To adopt a dachshund you must either have a fenced in yard or ALWAYS keep them on leash. These are hunters and if you allow them to run free they will NOT come back or will be hit by a car or attacked by another dog. When you adopt the dog you are giving a two week trail period and if you feel you need more time we are happy to give that to you if you will notify us. We also make you sign a contract that is a legal and binding contract. Once you put in a application to adopt one of our fosters we will try to get back to you as soon as possible. If you have not heard from us in a week please e mail us as your app may have gotten lost. We also have the right to refuse to adopt to anyone that we feel would not make a good home for our Dachshunds. Please remember these dogs have been in at least 2-3 homes possible more and it could take the whole two weeks for them to adjust and possobly longer.
