Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chewy would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that active and loyal hiking partner. At just about 10 - 12 months old and 50 lbs (anticipated to be about 52 or so lbs when full grown), Chewy is a take-along kind of guy that can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians everywhere a very sweet dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments...as well as so very adorable...end up in precarious situations. It just doesn't get much cuter than Chewy's scruffy Golden Retriever cuteness.
Chewy was a last-minute save for us...he would have died on the brutal streets of Tijuana as a baby if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This guy is just so awesome with his whole life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family.
Chewy, as a young guy, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's is happy to share a list of approved force-free trainers in your area), Chewy will have great behavior and be a very bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart!
Chewy loves children and enjoys playing with them...but we would only be open to older, dog-crazy kids. Chewy is a very young Golden, and while always meaning well, he's so friendly and excited to see his family that he can be too engaging for a very young child.
Active retirees who have the time, love and energy for a young guy would also be perfect for Chewy. He would thrive on the time spent together and would be the most loyal best friend ever.
For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery, Chewy would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk, fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air, so happy to be part of a loving family. Then, maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people.
Chewy is in a foster home in the Denver area. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
