Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mink and her sister Sable came to Chicago prepared for this cold weather, with their thick winter coats! Mink has a soft, plush, reddish, black and tan coat and appears to be a mix of a large breed dog--maybe Newfoundland--and hound. Whatever the mix, she will most likely be over 70 pounds when fully grown. She already weighs 34 pounds, at just 16 weeks of age. Only those willing to take pot luck in terms of what breed and size she grows to be, should apply!
Mink's foster home has this to say about her: "Sweet. Playful. Curious. Cuddles up with any person or any dog that will have her. Plays outside for as long as one would let her! Loves all the toys our dogs have. Great with dogs and gentle with kids and I bet any other animal as well. Needs a big space and yard, or trips to the dog beach or park, plus another four-legged friend to play with. Uses the doggy door and has been doing her business outside, with just a few accidents. Doesn't bark. Enjoys being right there with us when we're sitting by the fire, watching a show or playing a game. Sleeps all night, on a couch next to her sister. Very chill for a 4 month old puppy!"
Because Mink is still a puppy she needs a family where someone is home part or all of the day, to keep her on a potty schedule and continue with her socialization. We think Mink would do best in a home with another dog or two, because she is so used to being with her sister at all times. She would be fine with young kids because she is very gentle and calm.
You can meet Mink and her sister by appointment at their foster home. To request an application please call Adopt-A-Pet at 847-550-9690, or email info@adoptapet-il.org. (For a faster response, we suggest emailing instead of calling since our volunteers check email before and after regular business hours.)
Mink's adoption fee of $350 includes routine vet exam, DAPP distemper combo vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventative, routine deworming, microchip and spay.
