My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Townsend! We call him "T" for short, since he has a perfect white T on his chest. He was found in a shelter in Missouri, and scooped up by a rescue person since he was way too cute and friendly to leave there! "T" is now here with Adopt-A-Pet to find his forever home.

We aren't sure of his breed, but it looks like he has Chihuahua, Doxie and possibly Fox Terrier in the mix. From the way he can run, his first foster home said he might be part Greyhound too! He is 9 to 12 months old and weighs 12 pounds.

"T"is very shy and timid when he first meets you. But if you give him a head rub, he will crawl into your lap for a snuggle. He also loves belly rubs and brisk walks. He sleeps through the night without accident in his crate. We aren't sure yet whether he is house-trained, so he will need to be kept on a set schedule. Townsend likes to play with other dogs, both large and small, but he prefers people as his companions. He is fine with kids as long as they are calm and gentle with him, but is probably better suited to an adult household. If you are looking for a pint-sized snuggler, he fits this to a "T"!!

You can meet Townsend at his current foster home, Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Road in Wilmette, during normal business hours (847-251-6750). Although you will want to take him home on the spot, please know you will have to submit an application for adoption. (Applications can be requested by calling Adopt-A-Pet at 847-550-9690 or emailing info@adoptapet-il.org).

His adoption fee of $325 includes vet exam; DAPP, Bordetella and Rabies vaccinations; routine deworming, flea- tick treatment, heartworm test (neg), heartworm preventative, microchip and neuter.
